When Mrs. Dubcek asks the aliens to babysit for her grandson, they agree and are eager to observe a brand new human but become less excited when they learn that it's not so easy to "turn off" or "turn down" the screaming baby. Sally, however, discovers her maternal side, while Dick is upset that the baby doesn't seem to like him. Dick persuades a very reluctant Dr. Albright to allow him to fish-sit while she's away for a few days; she begs him not to kill her fish. The aliens soon become aware that the baby is ruling their life and, while Dick, Harry and Tommy are ready to give it back, Sally, though exhaused, feels needed for the very first time. Dick takes his fish-sitting duties very seriously, but when he adds another fish to the tank as a "playmate," it's a disaster. Mary is devastated that her fish are dead and refuses to speak to Dick, but he brings her a dog for consolation. And when Mrs. Dubcek returns after several days' absence, Sally wants to keep the baby.
