August is furious with Tommy for not asking her to the school dance; the situation has Tommy baffled, and he has no idea what August really wants, so he goes to Nina who advises him to write to Sandy, an advice columnist. Dick is shaken up when he hits a chipmunk with his car and rushes it to the vet; he can't understand the arbitrary way humans treat animals, but he determines never to harm another living creature for any reason whatever. Sally wants to nuke the swarms of ants that are overrunning the apartment, but Dick says it's out of the question and that's an order. To comply with the high commander's new animal protection program, Sally confiscates Harry's fur coat, but when she attempts to destroy Harry's contraband sandwich, he points out that she's wearing leather shoes; Sally decides they may need to re-think the whole plan and gives Harry back his sandwich. Dick tries to liberate occupants of a restaurant lobster tank as Sally continues on her mission of removing all animal products from the apartment.
