Tommy
is punished by the coach because he shows no school spirit at a
basketball pep rally. Dick gets a "Fuzzy Buddy" Jiggly Pig as a
promotional giveaway at a local burger joint. Nina, a serious Fuzzy
Buddy collector, goes crazy when she sees it and persuades Dick
to give it to her. Sally, shopping at a pharmacy, witnesses a stampede
when a new shipment of Fuzzy Buddies arrives. She gets sucked into
the excitement and brings home a big bag of the stuffed toys. Sally
tells Dick how rare the Jiggly Pig is and he is determined to get
it back from Nina. Sally and Dick take off to find more Fuzzy Buddies,
and she warns Harry to keep his hands off the ones she has. Dick
pays Nina $75 to get back Jiggly Pig. Dick and Tommy have a meeting
with the principal about Tommy’s lack of school spirit. The principal
tells Tommy that he’s now Hooty, the school’s owl mascot. Dick is
paying no attention because he’s too busy stealing some Fuzzy Buddies
that are in the principal’s office. Tommy gets swept away by all
the power and attention he gets as Hooty. He gets so involved in
his new job that he flies into a rage and tackles the coach when
the team loses. Dick and Sally are hot on the trail of more Fuzzy
Buddies. Harry complains to Dick that there’s no food in the house
and Dick has even spent the rent money, but now Dick is in search
of the rare Chilly the Snow Leopard with only a single nostril.
Dick and Sally go to Fuzzy Buddy Swap Night at the burger joint.
Sally says the market is at its peak, so it’s time to sell the collection,
but Dick is not sure he’s ready to give up his fuzzy friends. Dick
and Sally meet the owner of one of the rare snow leopards, and their
transaction sounds like a drug deal with Dick buying Chilly for
$800 while refusing to sell the rest of the collection. At this
point, both Harry and Sally are frantic. Sally, Harry, Tommy and
Mary decide that only an "intervention" can save Dick now.
