Tired
of always spending time with Dick's family, Mary suggests that they
make plans with another couple. After a few dates, Mary and Dick
are hooked on hanging with Gwen (Genie Francis) and Larry (Jonathan
Frakes), but then the other couple mysteriously stops calling. Dick,
fearful he's done something to offend them, confronts them, but
it turns out it's Mary they find pretentious and boring. Gwen and
Larry agree to give the couples date thing one more try, but when
it's evident their opinion of Mary hasn't changed, Dick drives them
away before Mary can discover the truth and be hurt by it. Also,
Sally, Harry, and Tommy become enamored with hanging out at the
local laundromat. Sally, disenchanted by the behavior at some of
her fellow patrons, brings her own brand of frontier justice to
the Rutherford Rinse. Harry has a flirtation with a girl he meets
there, but when the Solomons' own washer and dryer are fixed, he
realizes it was only a temporary thing.
