Sally
is taken aback when she encounters Janice, a veritable superwoman,
at the police gym. She thinks Janice is all show until Don sets
her straight. Janice is smart as a whip and tough as an ox. She’s
like Robocop. Dick walks in while his teaching colleagues are discussing
the killings they’ve made in the stock market. Not to be outdone,
but without a clue what they’re talking about, Dick invites Mary
on a six-day vacation in Cancun to be paid for with his stock market
Profits. Dick tells Tommy about his great money-making idea. He
thinks that if he acts immediately, he’ll be able to make enough
for the vacation. Tommy advises diversifying, but Dick insists they
put all their money in one stock. Sally is worried that she’s no
longer the toughest woman in Rutherford. She’s not happy when Harry
says that Janice could definitely kick her butt. Dick and Tommy
buy 100 shares of Eversoll, Inc. online. It immediately goes up
an eighth, and they’re convinced that they’re brilliant. Sally shows
up at the police station and challenges Janice to an arm-wrestling
match. Janice, who says the whole thing is silly, wins easily. Dick
takes Mary shopping and encourages her to go crazy. He’s tracking
the stock on his pager and is alarmed when it begins to drop. Tommy
tells him that CNN broadcast a rumor about the company’s overspending
and that was responsible for the stock going down. Dick and Tommy
show up at Eversoll’s corporate offices and try to whip things into
shape. They stumble into a board meeting, and Dick tells everyone
that they’re fired. Security guards are called to escort them out.
Sally confronts Janice who starts crying and confides that everyone
tries to take her down and no one pays any attention to the person
inside Janice was hoping that she and Sally could be friends. Mary
finds Dick on the roof about to jump off. When she learns that there’ll
be no vacation, she encourages him to go ahead. Sally learns from
Janice that she can be vulnerable and still keep her edge.
