Episode #610 "There's No Business Like Dick Business"

SYNOPSIS:

Dick, Mary, Harry and Sally are walking in the park. There's a children's party going on complete with magician. When the magician asks for an assistant, Dick volunteers, and he's immediately swept away by the attention and applause. In fact, while Dick is helping to entertain the children, Mary is mugged and has her purse stolen, but Dick is oblivious. Don is teaching a self-defense course at the Y, so Mary decides to sign up. Dick is so exhilarated by performing that he decides to become a magician himself; Sally says she'll be his glamorous assistant. Harry shows up at Don's class. Since the class is for women only, Harry gets the job of wearing the padded suit and being attacked. It's open mike night at a club, and Dick and Sally do a show in which Sally gets in a box and Dick saws the box in half. They're a big hit, and the manager offers them a job in the big room. They couldn't be more thrilled. Harry is loving getting beaten up by the women in class. When Mary can't seem to let loose, he taunts her and, when Don tries to get him to stop, he pushes Don, gets him on the ground and sits on him. Don yells for help; he's defenseless. Sally and Dick come home, still high from their performance. Dick can't resist giving Sally a tiny note about her performance and it isn't long before they're ripping each other apart. But the club manager calls with another gig, and immediately all's forgiven. However things are tense at their next performance, and the club manager takes Sally aside telling her that she's the actual star of the show. Sally agrees that Dick is dead wood. Back at the self-defense class, Mary is having trouble letting herself go. She can't get past the fact that her mother always told her that girls don't hit. But Harry hurls insults at her until she charges across the room and gives him a karate kick that sends him tumbling backwards. Sally and Dick are in the wings waiting to do another show and sniping at each other. They perform a series of tricks that are dazzling. Later, in the dressing room Sally complains that she's suffocating. She needs some artistic freedom! Dick fires back that she's nothing but decorative tinsel. Soon they're screaming that they hate each other, but they become aware of what's happening to them and agree to stop before it's too late. They tell the manager that they're quitting and walk out. Harry, still in his padded suit, take Mary, Judith, Don and the rest of the class to the park. They spot the purse snatcher, and Harry tells him he's going down. The mugger runs from the park with the self-defense class in hot pursuit.
