Episode #617 "Mary Loves Scoochie, Part I"

SYNOPSIS:

Harry is transmitting the Alien Awards Show, and the aliens are annoyed that once again they received no recognition. Dick wants to locate Team X, the winners, and find our who they have for a publicist. Dick is poking around in Mary's dresser and discovers some love letters signed "Scoochie." Harry and Sally wander into a country store and encounter an Amish couple. They look so weird that Harry and Sally are sure that they've located the mysterious Team X. They're determined to follow them and find out what they did to win the award. Dick reads all of Scoochie's letters to Harry and Sally, and all agree that they're brilliant. When Dick confronts Mary, she confesses that she doesn't know who Scoochie is, but no one else has ever said such beautiful things about her. When Dick's sure she has no clue about Scoochie's identity, he announces that he is Scoochie. Harry and Sally are fascinated by the simple ways of the Amish, but they can't understand how it's possible to have no desire to be connected to the outside world. Sally decides that maybe the Solomons' problem is that they've blended in too much. The Scoochie letters have done a lot to make Dick's and Mary's relationship more exciting. Dick is doing a good job pretending that he wrote the letters until Mary mentions Scoochie's suggestion that they have a special rendezvous. Mary says she wrote back and agreed to meet. Dick, as Scoochie, writes to Mary to cancel their meeting, but Mary gets a special delivery letter from the real Scoochie saying that they're to meet that night at the Medieval Festival. Harry and Sally announce to the Amish that they want to become part of their "team," but the Amish tell them that they're no longer welcome in their community, because they're a bad influence. Dick and Mary, both in costume, are at the Medieval Festival. Dick is looking for Mary, and Mary is looking for Scoochie. Dick finds Mary and indentifies himself as Scoochie. He's then challenged to a duel by the Black Knight. Since Mary clearly expects him to defend her honor, he reluctantly picks up a sword. In the battle that ensues, Dick recognizes a scent that was on the love letters and realizes that the Black Knight is Scoochie. Later, as the Black Knight is about to behead him with an ax, he recognizes the Knight's voice as that of Liam Neesam, his old rival.
