This entire episode takes place inside a therapist's office as Hilton reveals, in a series of flashbacks, the circumstances that caused Ruth to send him there. She thinks that he's been acting crazy, but Hilton, true to form, believes he's completely sane and that everyone around him is nuts. He tells the therapist how Erica has quit her job as a lawyer and is moving back home to pursue cooking school. He tells him about how Griffin blames Hilton for losing all his money, forcing Griffin to rent out his own house in order to make the mortgage payments on it. He tells him how, at Ruth's insistence, Griffin has moved into the Lucas' attic, so Hilton has two extra people living in his house. He also explains that Ruth and Pauline have moved their business across the street, and that a day care center has moved in next door, leaving Hilton surrounded by "little people." Realizing that Hilton is overwhelmed by all of these changes, the therapist gently helps Hilton deal with them.
