As
always, Griffin is frustrated that Hilton insists on offering unsolicited
opinions and advice. Griffin has been listening to tapes by a motivational
speaker who insists that men must release their "inner gladiator"
and he doesn’t appreciate Hilton’s sarcastic remarks about it. Ruth
invites Pauline and her new boyfriend Gregory over for dinner. Pauline
thinks Gregory may be the one, and Ruth cautions Hilton that this
means a lot to Pauline so he’d better behave. When asked what he
does for a living, Gregory announces he’s a professional genius,
and the evening goes downhill from there. Hilton has never met anyone
more boring. But when the Lucases hear that Pauline is thinking
of breaking up with Gregory, Ruth is sure it’s because Hilton doesn’t
like him and she urges Hilton to make another attempt to bond with
Gregory. Hilton, Griffin and Gregory are in the neighborhood pub
and Hilton is nearly comatose until Gregory begins supplying answers
to a guy playing an online trivia game with tickets to the Sugar
Bowl as the prize. Pauline tells Ruth that her decision about Gregory
has nothing to do with Hilton, and heads to the pub to tell Hilton
he can forget about attempting to bond. When she arrives, Gregory
has answered correctly all but the final question and tells her
that about an hour ago he discovered his fun side. When the final
question comes, he has no idea what the answer is and Griffin comes
to the rescue with something he learned on his gladiator tape and
they all win tickets to the Sugar Bowl.
