Episode #220 "The First Gentleman"

Ruth has been elected the first woman president of the Astoria Businessmen's Roundtable which, Hilton learns, automatically makes him the head of the women's auxiliary. When Hilton learns that Ruth and the Roundtable group will be going to a Small Business Association convention in Atlantic City the following weekend and that spouses aren't invited, he interrupts the meeting and says that this year the spouses should go along. The businessmen inform Ruth that they look forward to the convention as an opportunity to cut loose without their wives and if spouses go, they'll impeach her. Furthermore, Hilton gets no support from the wives, who love being on their own for the weekend. Still, Hilton tells Ruth he's going, and she tells him forcefully that he's not. Hilton finally admits to Erica that he worries that Ruth will be in Atlantic City with all those men -- and he knows how men act at conventions. In Atlantic City, Ruth forces the men to spend all their time in seminars, after which they grudgingly admit that they've learned a lot. Hilton finally lures the wives to Atlantic City by telling them that Tony Bennett is performing, and is in the showroom when Ruth arrives, eager to see Tony herself. She demands to know what Hilton is doing there, and he informs her that he and the women didn't come along, they came on their own. Ruth is secretly glad that Hilton's there, and they both enjoy the performance.
