Griffin
is working several jobs and is happy the paychecks are finally coming
in. Meanwhile, Jurnee asks Hilton to be her "grandfather" and talk
about his life at the school’s Grandparents’ Day. Griffin accompanies
Hilton to the school and decides to stick around when he sees Miss
Williams, Jurnee’s attractive teacher. The class is less than fascinated
by Hilton’s presentation, but when Griffin demonstrates what makes
planes fly, he grabs the kids’ attention and makes Hilton proud.
When the Lucases praise Griffin, he reminds them that he’s always
been good at science and graduated from college with a 3.9 average.
Jurnee adds that Griffin really inspired the class, and he agrees
to tutor Jurnee and her friend Kevin for an upcoming science test.
Jurnee aces the test, but Kevin gets a 68% and holds Griffin responsible.
Griffin is upset about his failure - but Miss Williams tells him
that Kevin’s test score is the highest he’s ever gotten and that
Griffin should really think about being a teacher. Griffin gives
Kevin a pep talk, and they continue to work on science together.
Miss Williams drops off an application for substitute teaching,
but when Griffin realizes that it would mean more schooling, which
would in turn mean living in Hilton’s attic for at least another
year, he decides it’s not the right professional path for him.
