Jurnee
complains to Hilton that her classmate Kevin, who she thought liked
her, pushed her down on the sidewalk in front of all his friends.
The next day, Hilton gets a call from the school nurse to come pick
up Jurnee, who says she has a stomach ache. When he asks her what’s
really wrong, she tells him that Kevin asked her to eat lunch with
him, only to tell her to get lost when his friends came around.
Ruth tries to explain to Jurnee that boys Kevin’s age don’t know
how to deal with girls. They are starting to like them, but don’t
want to be embarrassed in front of their friends. What Jurnee needs
to do, Ruth tells her, is make it clear to Kevin that he has to
treat her right if he wants her around. Kevin stops by to apologize,
and Hilton talks to him about what it means to be a gentleman. The
next day, Hilton walks to school with Jurnee, who’s still a little
nervous. When Kevin and Jurnee get together, however, Kevin tells
his friends that he likes Jurnee and they should get lost.
