When
Hilton’s old friend Robert calls, Ruth is skeptical of his motives.
She reminds Hilton that he hasn’t heard from Robert in the two years
since he loaned him some money. Robert invites Hilton and Ruth to
dinner, where he actually repays the two-year loan. But a few days
later, he shows up at their house asking to borrow six hundred dollars
so his car won’t be re-possessed. Hilton feels set up and he reminds
Robert that any money he loans him is Ruth’s money too. Hilton suggests
he either sell his fancy watch or take a second job, and tells him
that the only time he hears from him is when Robert wants something.
Robert tries once more to make Hilton feel guilty, but it’s too
late -- Hilton has finally wised up to his pal’s conniving ways.
