Hilton
and Ruth are horrified when Jurnee gets drunk at a birthday party
and ends up terribly hung over. They immediately call Del, who’s
out of town on business, and demand to know how this happened. All
Jurnee will tell them is that someone secretly spiked the punch
bowl. The girl does volunteer that there was also marijuana at the
party and assures them that she didn’t have any. However, she refuses
to name names or assign blame because parents will be called, people
will get in trouble and she won’t have any friends left. Mr. and
Mrs. Harris, the parents of the kid who threw the party, arrive
and are extremely apologetic, believing that the kids were sick
because they ate some bad dip. When Hilton tells them there were
drugs and alcohol at the party, they’re astonished. Later, Jurnee
asks Ruth and Pauline why adults drink when alcohol tastes so bad
and makes them sick. They tell her that alcohol is for adult festivities,
and you need adult judgment to handle it. Hilton, as a last resort,
tells Jurnee that the person who spiked the punch wasn’t a friend
at all, so she won’t really be "ratting." This helps Jurnee realize
that it’s okay to tell Hilton the truth.
