While
shopping at Tim’s Collectibles, Hilton learns that Tim, the shop
owner, wants Hilton to come to his apartment across the street to
bring him some food. Tim has locked himself in his apartment because
of a rent strike and refuses to come out. The landlord Tully offers
to declare a truce, and Hilton convinces Tim that he should accept
this offer in good faith. Hilton then takes Tim to the Flower Café
and introduces him to everyone, and all soon realize that Tim is
a real curmudgeon. Later, Tim shows up at the Lucas house, where
he announces that when he returned to his apartment, Tully had locked
him out. He turns his wrath on Hilton for telling him to trust Tully
and leave the apartment. Erica looks into Tim’s legal rights and
learns that, strictly speaking, neither Tim nor his landlord has
a case. She and Hilton meet with Tim and Tully, where Erica stresses
that they need to resolve their differences or they’ll soon find
themselves in court. Tully complains about how much grief he’s taken
from Tim over the years, and, in a stunning surprise, Hilton finds
out that Tim is actually Tully’s father. Peace finally reigns when
Tim accepts the key to a new condo that Tully has bought him as
a present.
