Griffin
introduces Hilton, Ruth and Pauline to Anita, a young woman he met
recently at an education conference. Anita, the conference organizer,
has a high-powered, very stressful job that takes her all over the
country. After a dinner at the Lucases, she tells Griffin that she
rarely has time for a proper meal, and she's usually so busy that
she doesn't get to enjoy the cities where her conferences are held.
Her cell phone rings and she learns that she has to go immediately
to Boston, where there's a conference of young black millionaires.
Griffin wants to go with her, but she says she'll be back the next
day. Griffin's worried that Anita won't call but when she does call,
it’s to tell him that she's been delayed. Suspicious and impatient,
he gets in the car and heads for Boston. Griffin arrives at the
conference and starts looking for Anita. He meets a guy there who
tells Griffin that he asked Anita to dinner that night but she said
she had other plans. He arrives home, quite upset, and tells Hilton
that Anita had already checked out of the hotel. Ruth tells Griffin
to relax and to go get a cup of tea. He reluctantly goes to the
kitchen and finds Anita there. She says she knows he drove to Boston
to check up on her – but she thinks it’s way too early in their
relationship for him to start spying on her. Tomorrow, she’ll be
going to Detroit – but she tells Griffin he can call her there -
and maybe send flowers too.
