Erica, Darien and Ruth went to the Warehouse Club and bought an enormous amount of food in anticipation of the possible Y2K emergency. Hilton thinks that they're acting ridiculous because nothing's going to happen - then he's amazed to find out that Ruth bought a generator. Griffin is hard at work installing it, when suddenly the lights go out. Clearly Griffin's handiwork is responsible for a blackout that affects the entire neighborhood. The residents begin to congregate, and Hilton stresses that the best way to cope with the blackout or any other emergency is for everyone to work together. Soon all the barbecue grills are out - the neighbors have pooled their food and start cooking. A big block party begins to take form, with music and people getting to know each other for the first time. Griffin is crossing the street to go to the café when he bumps into Rebecca, a beautiful young woman who was on her way home when the blackout hit. They strike up a conversation and are instantly attracted. Finally, when the lights come back on, Ruth, Erica and Darien agree that they've had a good experience. Now, instead of panicking when Y2K comes, they'll just turn to their neighbors, just as they did tonight.
