Sean
enjoys making small talk and confiding in Cybill. During one talk,
he reveals that he and Zoey have taken a vow of chastity with each
other. Later, he arrives to hang out with Cybill while Zoey is at
the library. Cybill tries to teach him how to play football and
he gets a black eye. Zoey finds out Sean’s been confiding in her
mother and forbids it from continuing. Meanwhile, Cybill’s new neighbor,
Ed Philo, has been stealing her mail and her bougainvillaea. The
police won’t do anything about it so when the guy steals her mailbox,
she decides to retaliate and steal it back. Sean acts as a lookout.
When Cybill and Sean are brought home by the police, Zoey gives
them a lecture. When Sean reveals he likes being with Cybill because
she reminds him of Zoey, all is forgiven. Later, Cybill enlists
Zoey’s help as a computer hacker to get back at her burgling neighbor.
Together, they re-route the guy’s mail, have him donate a thousand
dollars to Greenpeace and enlist him as a foot soldier in the Michigan
militia. Meanwhile, Ira’s suffering from writer’s block. Inspired
by a book about F. Scott Fitzgerald, he dreams of having a muse
like Zelda for his writing. The only person he can find who is lunatic
enough to inspire great art is Maryann. He accompanies her on a
mission of Zen vandalism – and they bury Dr. Dick’s stereo in dirt
and molasses. Inspired by her actions, Ira plans his own act of
Whimsy. Dressed as Gatsby and Zelda, he and Maryann meet in a cemetery
at midnight to play croquet and do the Charleston among the headstones.
After their experience, Ira begins writing again. Maryann fancies
many more years of musedom together, but Ira tells her now that
his block is gone, he won’t be needing her. He kisses her tenderly
and they part friends.
