At
the trattoria, Cybill finds that Maryann owns a piece of Leo McInerny,
a studly, but stupid, boxer and runs into Mrs. Audrey Sweeney, Zoey’s
guidance counselor. Cybill learns that Zoey told her counselor that
Cybill is unable to speak on a panel at Career Day because she will
be tied up at the Wisconsin Film Festival. Eager to reverse Zoey’s
lie, Cybill confesses that she is allergic to cheese and has been
removed as a speaker, thus making her available to attend. Mrs.
Sweeney is delighted and starts to discuss Zoey’s college plans
with Cybill when Sean accidentally (on purpose) spills a glass of
water down her dress, causing her to abort the issue. Soon, Maryann
and Leo are indulging in kisses at the boxing ring. Later, Ira gives
Cybill the first chapter of his book to read. While on the panel
at Career Day, Cybill and Ira fight about whether or not college
is important, causing Zoey to declare she’s not going to college
as she exits. Cybill and Ira blame each other for Zoey’s rebellious
act. Ira then takes back his pages because she can’t be objective.
At a boxing match, Maryann confesses to Cybill that she’s going
to have to break it off with Leo because fighters have to remain
celibate for weeks before a big bout. Zoey admits to Sean that she
is going to audit classes at UCLA but refuses to tell her intrusive
parents. Zoey does inform Cybill and Ira that she is going to start
helping with laundry and chores, get a job, and start paying "fair
market" rent, in return for privacy. They agree. Later, Ira reads
Cybill his first chapter, proving that fiction is taken from reality:
He still loves Cybill. Cybill declares that it won’t work, and Ira
replies, "I understand. You just need more time."
