After
a day of acting opposite Andrea Thorpe, Cybill and Maryann’s arch
enemy, Cybill comes home to find that Andre a is going to be awarded
the "Angel of the Year" award; an honor Maryann was hoping to get.
Meanwhile Zoey has found out that she has been put on the waiting
list for an audition at the Conservatory of Music. When Cybill finds
out that Andrea is on the board of directors for the Conservatory,
Cybill has to suck in her pride and ask Andrea to get Zoey an audition.
Andrea agrees to get Zoey the audition as long as Cybill presents
her with the "Angel of the Year" award at the award banquet. In
spite of how upset this will make Maryann, Cybill decides to go
ahead and do it for Zoey’s sake. The next day at the banquet, Cybill
mirthlessly reads a bogus speech prepared by Andrea praising herself
for all her hard work and dedication. As Cybill begins the speech,
Maryann’s cell phone rings. It’s Zoey telling her that someone dropped
out and she got the audition. Maryann tells the waiter to pass this
information onto Cybill immediately. Once the message is received,
Cybill gives a more appropriate speech, blasting Andrea, and telling
the audience that Maryann really deserves the award. The next day
Zoey has her audition. After her performance, Zoey is asked to stay
and talk to the judge. During the conversation, it is revealed that
someone actually opened up a spot for her and that it wasn’t because
someone dropped out. Zoey immediately thinks it’s Cybill butting
into her life and making Zoey fell like a baby. When Zoey confronts
Cybill in front of Ira, Ira tells her that it was him who got her
the audition, not Cybill. Zoey gets upset but Cybill explains that’s
what parents do. In the end Zoey appreciates what her mother and
Ira are willing to do for her.
