Justin
confesses to Cybill he’s been offered a job in San Francisco but
he hasn’t told Ma ryann. He’s worried because Ma ryann just broke
things off with Richard, and he fears she will feel abandoned if
he leaves town. Be f o re Justin can tell Ma ryann, Richard enters
with another woman on his arm. Ma ryann feigns being unaffected.
At Cy b i l l’s house, Ir a and Zoey arrive. Zo e y’s dressed in
full Barbie regalia from playing at a child’s birthday part y. Zoey
needs some money, so instead of having to play for kids, Ira suggests
she take a part-time job at the bookstore. When Justin finally tells
Ma ryann about the job in San Francisco, she again feigns being
unaffected. Cybill suggests Ma ryann try therapy to help her settle
her issue about Justin leaving. In the waiting room of the therapist’s
office, Cybill sits with Ma ryann as they wait for Justin. Justin
arrives with Richard in tow. Cybill confronts Justin, saying this
just got him off the hook. If Ma ryann and Richard get back together
this will make it easier for Justin to pack up and go. Cybill meets
Zoey at the b o o k s t o re for moral support. Zoey confesses to
Cybill she’s having second thoughts about taking this job. She is
a p e rf o r m e r. Zoey fears what starts out as part-time will
turn full-time and paints a gloomy picture for her future. W h e
n Cybill asks the clerk for the job application, the clerk mistakes
Cybill for the applicant and suggests Cy b i l l’s too old for the
job. Zoey stands up for Cybill. At the trattoria, Ma ryann tells
Cybill she believes therapy works. She and Richard h a ve agreed
to see each other again, with the condition that marriage is not
an issue right now. She also adds that Ju s t i n has taken the
job, but will be based in L.A. and only fly to San Francisco twice
a month. Cybill points out that Ma ry a n n and Justin have not
re s o l ved any issues, they’ve just avoided them. At the therapist’s
office, Justin apologizes to Cy b i l l . He re a l i zes her butting
in was just her way of showing she cares. Cybill accepts the apology
and also confesses she re a l i ze s Justin only had his mother’s
best interests at heart. Justin points out he apologized to Cybill,
but Cybill did not apologize to him. A foam bat fight ensues.
