Episode #420 "Dream Date"

  Ma ryann sets Cybill up on a date the same day Nonee, Ir a’s mother, is coming to town. Ira is upset because no one will go to the airport with him. He obviously has issues with his mother. Cy b i l l’s date shows up. He looks nice, but the date quickly goes downhill. At dinner with Richard and Ma ryann, Cybill re a l i zes that her date, Bruce, is a complete pig, plus he’s cheap. Ma ryann and Richard discuss the new boundaries of their re l a t i o n s h i p, post-therapy. Ma ryann has to be less dependent and Richard has to stop caretaking. Bruce makes fun of Richard for being a poor man dating a rich woman. Richard and Ma ryann get in a tiff over how important money actually is. Ruth, Ira and Nonee show up at the restaurant. When Bruce gets up to put more money in the parking meter, Cybill tries to ditch her date, but Bruce enters just in time to save Nonee from choking on a piece of bread. She is eternally grateful and Cybill has to finish her date with him. Eve ryone returns to Cy b i l l’s house after dinner, including Bruce. Zoey comes downstairs to find Bruce, the man whose check bounced at his annive r s a ry part y. Once Cybill finds out that he’s married, she demands that he leave s . Un f o rt u n a t e l y, due to a torrential storm, a tree limb falls in Cy b i l l’s driveway and blocks Bru c e’s car in. So, Cy b i l l , Ma ryann, Richard, Ira, Zoey and Nonee all end up in the hall closet, hiding from Bruce. Finally Cybill confronts him. Bruce acts remorseful and fixes eve rything. He brings Ira and his mother together, apologizes to Zoey and pays her for the part y, and he confesses that he’s jealous of Ma ryann and Richard’s re l a t i o n s h i p. Eve ryone forgives him, except Cy b i l l , who leaves her house to escape. Howe ve r, she shortly returns with a cold. Bruce offers her a hankie, which turns out to be a pair of her panties. Unable to take anymore, she grabs a tomahawk and heaves it at him. He falls to the floor dead. Cybill comes to, realizing somebody’s at the door. It’s her blind date. The whole sequence was just a fantasy. Unable to l i ve through it again, Cybill declines the date at the door.
