Episode #421 "Farewell, My Sweet"

  While shooting a chocolate commercial, Cybill comes down with an all-over body rash. She soon finds out the re a s o n : she is allergic to chocolate. Meanwhile, Ma ryann has been notified that she will be receiving the Untied Ho s p i t a l’s Humanitarian of the Year Aw a rd. Without warning, Roy and Marge Yu k a vetch, Ma ry a n n’s parents, show up at Cy b i l l’s house in their Wi n n e b a g o. T h e y’re in town for a bowling tournament. Thinking her parents are bowling Sa t u rday night, Ma ryann mentions that she is getting an award that evening. Howe ve r, Roy informs Ma ryann that they’re only bow l i n g Friday and Sunday night. Marge is thrilled that they’ll have Sa t u rday night off, so they’ll be able to be with "Te resa" on her special night. Ma ryann is distraught over this news. The next night at the cere m o n y, Cybill sits at a table with Ma ry a n n’s parents and Ira. Ma ryann comes by and warns Cybill to watch her parents, so they don’t embarrass her while s h e’s at the podium. Cybill agrees. The Mi s t ress of Ceremonies then announces Ma ryann T h o r p, and Ma ryann takes her place behind the microphone. As Ma ryann goes on about how important charity is, Cybill spots a plate of chocolate cake pass by her. Unable to deal with smell, Cybill follows it as it’s brought to the man that is about to consume it. Cybill alerts the patron to her "medical condition" and that she is unable to be around chocolate. Annoyed with her, the man proceeds to eat his cake, flaunting each bite. Cybill can’t stand his attitude and pushes the man’s face into his cake, causing a big scene and interrupting Ma ry a n n’s speech. Cybill has now embarrassed Ma ryann. Later that night in the backyard, Cybill apologizes to Ma ryann. They then proceed to have a funeral for Cy b i l l’s chocolate, to help her get over her addiction. Chocolate square by chocolate square, Cybill tosses eve ry chocolate bar at her house into the shallow g r a ve. Afterw a rds, Cybill once again tells Ma ryann how sorry she is that she embarrassed her. Ma ryann accepts her a p o l o g y. If Cybill didn’t humiliate her, her mother would have. She doesn’t understand how she came from those people. Ma ryann then sees that Marge has heard the whole conversation. Marge refuses to talk to Ma ryann. After all, they are just as embarrassed of her, with her flashiness as she is of them. The next night at the bowling alley, Cybill and Ma ry a n n s h ow up. Cybill convinces Ma ryann to go talk to her parents and make up. Ma ryann and her parents re a l i ze that eve n though they are different, they are still family.
