Episode #422 "Don Gianni"

  Cybill appears on the cable talk show, "Julie!" She traumatizes the host by sharing her age and weight on camera. T h e p roducer loves her and invites her back the next day to continue to co-host. Meanwhile, Zoey is nervous when the man she lost her virginity to, Gianni, comes to visit from It a l y. She hasn’t seen him in over two years and wonders if he will still care for her. Cybill tries to be encouraging until she learns that Zoey introduced Gianni to Ira and not to her. Saddened her daughter is embarrassed by her, Cybill goes down to the trat to check out this young man, but then feels bad about not respecting her daughter’s priva c y. Be f o re Cybill can leave, Gianni re c o g n i zes her. It turns out that Gi a n n i is a huge fan of hers. He has seen all her movies in It a l y. Zoey admits she was reticent to introduce Gianni to Cy b i l l because she didn’t want to be upstaged by her mother. Cy b i l l’s larger-than-life presence has always been a problem for Zo e y. Zoey fears Gianni will only love her because she is Cybill Sh e r i d a n’s daughter. Cybill convinces Zoey that she is a p resence in her own. Back at the house, Zoey plays the piano while Cybill sings Italian opera. Gianni approaches Cy b i l l and asks for Zo e y’s hand in marriage. But his one concern is that since he and Zoey will be man and wife, he and Cy b i l l will only be able to have one night together of love. Cybill tells Gianni where he can put his night of love. She is unsure whether or not to tell Zo e y. The next evening Zoey announces Gianni has invited her to go to Italy for a few weeks and she has accepted. Cybill re veals Gi a n n i’s behavior. Zoey is shocked and upset. Ma ryann tells Zoey she is going to take c a re of Gianni in the same way she takes care of Dr. Dick. Zoey tells Cybill and Ma ryann that they don’t have to go to the trouble. Cybill informs Zoey she will be going after him whether Zoey wants her to or not. The three exit to seek re ve n g e .
