Episode #103 "Date From Hell"

SYNOPSIS:

God and the Devil are in Detroit's Greek Town; God's all set for a great Greek meal and is very upset to discover that the whole block's been boarded up with a mega store about to go in. God says Detroit needs a shot in the arm. The Devil raises a subject that's been bothering him. Bob has no respect for or fear of him. What's that all about? After all, he is the Prince of Darkness. Donna tells Bob that Megan has a huge crush on Jordan, a guy in her class. Bob hasn't noticed. The Devil tries to talk to Bob on his way to work. Bob ignores him, and, when the Devil persists, Bob orders him out of the car. The Devil tells Bob he won't be ignored. That afternoon God shows up, and Bob asks his advice about Megan. Girls are tough, says God. That's why he never had a daughter. Bob says that he can't help himself; he'd like to kick the butts of the guys Megan's attracted to. Bob comes home and finds that Megan has brought Jordan home for dinner. He wants to dislike Jordan but quickly bonds with him due to their mutual love of the Red Wings hockey team. Bob says Jordan's welcome at their home anytime, but, as Jordan's leaving, unseen by Megan and Donna, he turns his head completely around and we see the Devil's face as Jordan says goodnight to Bob. Bob goes inside and forbids Megan to see Jordan again; he's Satan in disguise. Megan says she's not at all surprised at Bob's reaction. Donna says it's a textbook father/daughter thing, and Bob should back off. Bob tries to explain to Donna that his soul has become a battleground in a war between God and Satan. Satan's trying to get at him through his family. He forbids Donna to let Megan see Jordan. Megan says she's never speaking to Bob again. Bob tries to get God to intercede, but God just tells him to have faith, because Megan's a good kid. Donna pretends that she now agrees with Bob, but she's secretly helping Megan see Jordan. At the Classy Chassis, Bob proudly tells his pal Barry that after fourteen years he's finally taken charge in his family. Barry suggests that maybe Donna is letting Megan see Jordan behind Bob's back. The Devil gets ready for his date with Megan and wants to look his best. Smeck reminds him that the reason he's doing this is to get to Bob. Bob rushes home and arrives just as Megan is coming downstairs for her date. He puts her in her room and stands guard outside her door, but she sneaks out the window. Bob tells Donna that she doesn't understand what's at stake here, but she says this is all about Bob's losing his little girl. On their date, Megan tells Jordan that she doesn't understand how he can be driving at age thirteen; she turns down his offer of a drink and assures him that he doesn't have to try to impress her. As Bob is about to take off in pursuit, Andy shows up in the driveway with some garlic and tells Bob that Megan and Jordan are headed for the ice rink. At the rink, Jordan tells Megan the advantages of embracing evil; more and more celebrities and rock stars are doing it. God shows up in Bob's car as he's on his way to the ice rink. Bob asks him why he allows evil in the world. God explains just as a train goes by, so Bob hears but we don't. Back at the rink, Jordan starts getting depressed as he listens to Megan prattling on and on about how terrible the world is. He tells her she's sort of a downer. The Devil had forgotten that thirteen-year-old girls can be so depressing. He takes off while Megan is talking to a friend. Another boy asks Megan to skate just as Bob arrives, and Bob, to Megan's horror, forces garlic down his throat. At home, Donna consoles Megan as Bob tells Andy that he did, in fact, save Megan from Satan.
