Vic at the oil refinery is acting strangely, and Grace and the others worry that he may have a drinking problem. Grace confides to Nadine that after eight dates, her relationship with Ben is going well in many ways but hasn’t gone beyond the kissing stage. When Grace presses the issue with Ben and he says that he’s celibate and needs a "commitment" before the relationship can become more intimate, she is frustrated and confused. When Grace confronts Vic about his suspected problem, she learns that he and his wife are trying to have a baby and he’s exhausted. Grace has a bizarre encounter with Mrs. Sheffield at the kids’ school. Ben and Grace have a conversation that makes them both feel better.
