When
Rick invites Grace to a literary evening at a local community college,
she resentfully reminds him that it's Halloween, a kids' holiday,
and she's stuck at home with family responsibilities. Grace feels
stifled and bored with motherhood and just wants to go out and have
some fun. Libby gets in a fight with a neighbor boy who tells her
she's going to hell for celebrating Halloween. Grace defends her
to Betty, the boy's mother, but Libby's grandmother Jean suggests
that the kids at least should be going to church regularly. Grace
playfully dons a black wig and sunglasses and becomes Natasha, a
fascinating, mysterious Slavic woman, who works her charms on Russell.
Grace grounds Quentin as he's leaving the house with a carton of
eggs to use for Halloween pranks. Jean surprises Grace by telling
her that she thinks Grace is a good mother; getting sick to death
of her kids doesn't mean she doesn't love them. Jean tells Grace
to go out and have a good time; she and Nadine will handle the Halloween
chores. And Rick takes Grace, dressed as Natasha, to a coffee bar
where she recites poetry to an admiring audience.
