Episode #422 "Rob vs. Jimmy"

Rob tells Grace he'd really like their relationship to go to a deeper level; they have plans to go to New Orleans the weekend of Grace's birthday, but when Rob finds out the kids are planning a surprise party for her, he suggests they postpone the trip. Grace tells Nadine she's not sure how she feels about Rob getting serious, and Nadine says she should be happy, because Rob seems to be a great guy and she wishes she were so lucky; Wade never seems to be around when Nadine needs him anymore. Quentin asks Rob what he should buy Grace for her birthday, and Jimmy, feeling left out, makes a suggestion himself. When Quentin takes Rob's advice, Jimmy is hurt, but Grace consoles him, saying that even though the kids have bonded with Rob, he's still their dad. Wade stops by the bar with some of his fellow officers and it's immediately apparent to Grace that things aren't right between him and Nadine. He says he's never home because he's working double shifts to support his family and doesn't want to confide in Nadine about the sordid aspects of police work. Grace tells him his family needs him at home with them, but he's not convinced. And Rob bows out of his plans with Libby so Jimmy can be the hero.
