Claudia's
excited to be throwing a bachelorette party for one of her girlfriends.
Sean has taken the boys out, and Lily and her friend Brad are upstairs
watching the child of one of the party-goers. Claudia's delighted
that she's having a night alone with her friends. The alcohol is
flowing freely, they have an x-rated cake and a stripper is on his
way. Just as the party is getting underway, Sean, Eddie and the
boys show up. They were chased home by people who were pelting them
with various objects. Claudia is not delighted to see them. Sean
promised her a night to herself. To make things worse, a crowd is
forming in front of the house, and clearly they're out for blood.
Sean explains that since Eddie showed up with four tickets to a
Yankee game, they didn't go to the planetarium as planned but went
to the game instead. They're seated in the right field bleachers
near the outfield fence. Sean has his glove in case a ball comes
his way. Eddie reminds him that he's been trying to catch a ball
for years with no success. It's the bottom of the ninth inning.
There are two outs and the opposition has a man on second. The Yankees
lead by one run. The ball comes their way, Sean beats the outfielder
to it and catches it while it's still in play. He's responsible
for the Yankees' losing the game. They're hounded in the parking
lot, on the street and in the subway by angry fans, but they finally
make it home. Nobody's more disgusted than Walt who was watching
the game on TV at his favorite bar. He was humiliated in front of
all his friends. The party is tanking, and Claudia just wants the
guys out of the house, but there's the mob outside to consider.
A "cop" arrives who's actually the stripper. He takes one look at
Sean and realizes that this is the jerk that lost the game for the
Yankees. He exits without doing his act. Claudia can't believe how
badly things are turning out. Sean knows they have to leave, but
he can't do it without facing the crowd of neighbors. He makes a
short speech saying that there's nothing they can do to him; he's
already hurt himself too much. One guy punches him anyway, but the
crowd drifts away. The stripper comes back to retrieve the handcuffs
he left behind, and Claudia nabs him. They paid a deposit, and he's
going to strip. And Sean gives the ball to Jimmy. Sean's wanted
to catch this all his life, but now he wants Jimmy to have it. To
his horror the two boys begin playing catch with it.
