Claudia
is burned out from working extra shifts at the restaurant, but Sean
reminds her they need the money for their dream vacation in Cancun;
they're not going to settle for another vacation at the Jersey shore.
Claudia protests that she never gets to see the kids, and she doesn't
know why Lily's not speaking to her. Sean says that Jimmy had a
minor problem, an incident at school, but it's been dealt with.
Kyle, the school bully, along with some of his toadies, has been
picking on Jimmy. Sean assures Claudia that he took care of it.
Lily has gotten her tongue pierced, and she's in terrible pain;
her parents can't believe she would do something so stupid, but
she says they just don't know what's cool. Sean and Claudia discover
that Henry's eating donuts that he found in the trash outside the
doughnut shop. Sean reminds him that they have a family rule against
eating from the garbage. Sean tells Claudia to keep her eye on the
prize and shows her a Cancun brochure. They imagine a romantic walk
on the beach, but Eddie intrudes on their reverie. Jimmy has a bump
on his head and explains that the kids were chasing him and he ran
into a tetherball pole. Sean asks Lily to walk Jimmy to school the
next day to make sure that nothing happens. Lily gets in Kyle's
face, but that only makes things worse. Now Jimmy's a wimp who needs
a girl for protection. Sean goes to sister Helen with Jimmy in tow.
Jimmy doesn't want to rat on Kyle, but Sister Helen figures things
out and says she'll take care of it. Lily's friends are giving her
a hard time about her picking on eleven-year-olds. Lily hopes the
pierced tongue will make her cool again. Eddie remembers when he
had a nose ring attached with a chain to his earring. Sister Helen
arrives at the Finnerty house and announces that the real problem
is that Jimmy's a bully. Claudia and Sean are taken aback to learn
that Jimmy has punched someone in the teeth. Henry comes home with
some Chinese food, and his parents learn that he danced in front
of a Chinese restaurant and was rewarded with potstickers by the
owner. When Sean tells him he can't to things like that, he complains
that the only thing that Sean ever cooks is macaroni and cheese.
Jimmy tells Sean he had to defend himself after Sister Helen got
involved, because things got even worse. Eddie gave him some martial
arts training and sent him off to confront the bullies. Claudia
tells Sean that Eddie is raising their son. Sean says they have
to keep their insane schedules a little longer, but the payoff will
be the beach. Sister Helen tells Sean that what happened in the
schoolyard was a very ugly scene. Jimmy protests that he was minding
his own business, but when Kyle knocks his book out of his hands,
he leaps onto a picnic table, disables two kids with kung fu kicks,
somersaults into the air and runs right up a wall like the kung
fu masters in "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon." He runs magically
across a row of bushes, flies to the picnic table, jumps, spins
and kicks his attackers, surveys the damage and settles down to
read again. Sister Helen says that Jimmy may be embellishing a bit.
In fact, Jimmy sneaked up behind Kyle and bashed him in the head
with a lunch tray. Claudia assures Sister Helen that they'll deal
with this, and it's goodbye Cancun.
