The Finnerty family is at a mausoleum for a memorial service for Sean and Eddie’s cousin Scott. Jimmy and Henry start messing with the urn which holds Scott’s ashes.
Walt straightens the lid on the urn and suddenly smells coffee. Sean and Claudia stiffen. Walt takes the lid off and discovers it’s full of ground coffee. From the way they’re acting, Walt realizes that this is the work of Sean and Claudia. Lily encounters a guy, Jeff, about her age who’s wearing a black suit and crying softly to himself. She finds herself trying to comfort him, and soon they’re hugging. Walt asks Sean how he and Claudia could have done this. Sean explains that from childhood his daredevil cousin Scott had made it clear that he would never want his body stuck in some box. He wanted to be cremated and have Sean and Eddie toss his ashes to the wind. In fact, Scott was obsessed about it; he was absolutely serious. And Sean and Eddie promised that they’d do what he wanted. Lily and Jeff are kissing when Jimmy appears and reminds her that she already has a boyfriend. She shoos him away. Walt wants to know if they broke into the funeral home to get the ashes. Claudia explains that they had no choice but to steal the ashes from his mother’s house the night before. Sean distracted his aunt while Eddie dumped the ashes in some Tupperware, and, at Claudia’s urging, substituted coffee in the urn. Claudia informs Lily that Jeff is her cousin, and Lily’s grossed out. Walt tells Sean and Eddie that they acted disgracefully, but they assure him that they were just doing what they thought would make Scott happy. They further tell Walt that they took the ashes to the top of the water tower to scatter them, but Sean dropped the Tupperware, and the container rolled into a gopher hole. Walt’s elated that there’s still time to get the ashes back where they belong, but when they find the container, it contains only a single cricket. It’s Henry’s. He had used a Dustbuster to vacuum up the “dust” and put his cricket in the Tupperware. Eddie tells Lily that Jeff is only her cousin by marriage, and she’s thrilled with the news. She asks Sean and Claudia for Jeff’s phone number, and Claudia says she can’t date cousin Jeff. She protests that he’s only a cousin by marriage, and Claudia says yes, he’s currently married to Lily’s cousin Suzy. Now Lily’s really grossed out. And Sean, Claudia, Eddie and Walt empty the Dustbuster and head for the water tower. Sean says it’s his chance to take his cousin on a final adventure, but he can’t do it. So it’s Walt who gives Scott his send-off, throwing his ashes into the wind.
