Episode #317 "Henry's Been Working For the Drug Squad"

SYNOPSIS:

Henry's all fired up after his school has Drug Day. He wants to check Sean's pupils to see if they're dilated. Sean assures Henry that he's not an addict. Henry shows Sean his badge; he's an official Anti-Drug Lord, and he's putting Sean in his "under observation" file. Henry finds Claudia's birth control pills in her nightstand and flushes them down the toilet. Claudia freaks out. Claudia finds some exposed film in her camera and has it developed. She discovers shots from a drunken party thrown by Sean and Eddie while Sean was supposedly sick and she was out of town at her parents' anniversary party. Claudia can't believe she fell for his lame sick excuse. Lily and Brad are a Mocha Joe's. He tells her he's saving his urine for the basketball team who need it for their drug tests. He takes off and Henry approaches. Caffeine's a drug, he informs Lily, and she has a problem. When Lily thinks about it, she realizes that she's been spending sixty bucks a week for java. Is she out of her mind? Later, Henry tells Eddie that alcohol is a drug. Eddie ignores him. Claudia's really upset that Sean lied to her about being sick. Henry's convinced that Jimmy's doing drugs, because he spends so much time in the bathroom. Claudia tells Henry to drop it. Henry nails Brad, who's using an asthma inhaler and demands to see a prescription. Eddie stops Henry as he's starting to call 911 to report a "drug emergency." He's discovered a marijuana plant growing in the back yard, and he has to alert the authorities. Clearly, it's his dad's. What Sean needs is tough love. Eddie has no comment. Sean comes home to find the living room furniture rearranged. Sitting in a semicircle are Claudia, Eddie, Lily, Henry, Walt, Sister Helen, Mr. Kersey from school, and Brad. One chair faces them, empty. It's an intervention, Henry announces. Sean hasn't a clue what's going on, but Henry tells him about the marijuana plant in the back yard. Henry knew that Sean has been acting weird lately. Sean protests that he doesn't smoke pot. Denial, they all agree. It's Eddie's! Of course, they nod, casting blame. Sean turns to Claudia to get him out of this, but she's having her revenge. She doesn't know what to believe. He lied about being sick; who knows what he'll do to protect his habit. Eddie tells him the quicker he admits his problem, the quicker this will all be over. They want honesty, Sister Helen tells him. Just this afternoon the whole basketball team tested positive for steroids (from Brad's asthma inhaler). Eddie takes Sean aside. He's sorry, but Henry was ready to call the cops. He negotiated him down to this. But, truthfully, it's not Eddie's weed. Then where did it come from? They flash back to the beer party. Sean barfed some pot brownie batter, seeds and all, in the back yard. Sean goes back to the intervention and hams it up. He'll be clean from this day forward. He'll even take a drug test. And, he vows. so will his little brother Eddie.
