Sean, Eddie and Jimmy are in a hobby store. Sean attempts to pay for a remote control car that Jimmy walked out with the day before without paying for. The proprietor will have none of it. He reaches for the phone to call the police. Eddie yanks the phone cord out of the wall. Sean grabs a handful of lollypops. They're out of there! Back at the house, Lily's stressing out, because she's meeting Dean's parents for the first time. She has no idea what to wear to make a good impression, and Dean isn't helping. As Dean's leaving he encounters Brad who announces that he's stepping aside, because the "love triangle" is tearing Lily apart. Dean ignores him; he's a dork! Sean tells Claudia that he had a little chat with Sister Helen that afternoon. Sean learns from her that Jimmy has stolen the remote control car. She further tells him that Dr. Jerry, the school psychologist, believes Jimmy did it because he wants attention. Sean tells Claudia that it's all crap. Jimmy doesn't have a shoplifting problem. Lily continues to stress about her wardrobe for that evening, and tries to get some advice from Eddie. Sean and Claudia visit Jimmy in his room and discover that it's filled with stolen loot-clothes, watches, sneakers-some with the anti-theft tags still on. Sean says Jimmy's supposed to be the good kid; he doesn't do stuff like this. Jimmy replies that they don't know what he does. Sometime he feels like they don't even know he's living here. Everything's always about Henry and Lily. When Sean and Claudia try to deny this, Jimmy asks who his best friend is. How about his favorite band? His parents are clueless, and Jimmy's point is made. The next day, Claudia tries to return the remote control car, but the guy at the shop is so rude that she leaves and still has the car. The creep deserves to be ripped off, she tells Eddie later. Sean and Jimmy come in after having spent the day together. Sean wanted them to bond, but it was a disaster. They went to a Boba bar and an Asian comic shop. Sean was hopeless. He hated the Boba and didn't get the manga at all. It's not a totally lost day for Jimmy. He has three new pairs of sunglasses-all stolen. Sean may not understand Jimmy, but Eddie says that he does. Jimmy's got layers, Eddie tells Sean. He's got stuff going on that's not always obvious. In fact, he's much like his uncle Eddie. Eddie tells Jimmy that he sees through the kleptomaniac thing. It's beneath Jimmy! Jimmy admits to doing a Google search on the middle child syndrome. He confesses that he actually paid for the sunglasses and for a lot of the other stuff. The real stealing was too scary. Brad come into Lily's room while she's looking at clothes. She's managed to postpone the meeting with Dean's folks for one night, but she's out of time now. Brad describes an outfit that he remembers Lily wearing at a street fair last May, right down to the amethyst earrings. Amazed, Lily thanks him. At Dean's house Lily's sitting at the table having pasta with Dean and his mom when Dean's dad comes into the room. He's not wearing a shirt.
