Episode #401 "I Just Paid to Say I Love You"

SYNOPSIS:

Lily tells Brad that she wants to do something more exciting than hanging out at home with him every night. Maybe they could go out on a real date. He gets the message. They'll have a night on the town, do something romantic, on Saturday night. Later, he asks Claudia's advice. Claudia suggests a horse and carriage ride in Central Park and dinner at a French restaurant on the upper west side. They hear a loud crash of glass breaking. It appears that Eddie has broken a window in the sewing room. Eddie denies responsibility, but Sean orders him to get the window fixed. The next night Sean, Eddie and Claudia are watching TV when Lily comes in bedraggled, barefoot and very upset. The night was a disaster; what could she have possibly seen in Brad? The horse and carriage ride, she tells them, was all about flies and manure. And at dinner Brad insisted they leave before dessert. It's clear that he thinks she's fat. They practically fly down the street, and when Lily breaks her heel Brad insists they pick up the pace. He calls this a romantic stroll. The whole thing was a nightmare! The arrive in Times Square, and Brad leaves Lily alone claiming that he's going to get his face put on a mug. At the end of her rope, Lily goes home. As Lily tells her story, all hell's breaking loose in the sewing room. An animal has come through the broken window which Eddie has yet to fix. Jimmy says Eddie's taking care of things. Eddie's not scared; he's studied Kung Fu. Eddie emerges from the sewing room holding a harmless looking kitty. Brad shows up and demands to know why Lily took off. He's out on the lawn as Lily grabs a BB gun and looks for some BBs. To divert attention from the broken window, Eddie tells Henry (who's going crazy because he thinks he's allergic to cats) that his parents made up that story so they wouldn't have to get Henry the cat he wanted. Henry goes ballistic. His parents are liars! Brad comes in through the broken window. He's desperate to explain himself to Lily. He was in such a huge rush, because they had to be at Times Square at ten o'clock. He had paid to have the giant ticker say "I love you, Lily." When it was up there, Lily was nowhere to be found. Lily doesn't care. It's the most romantic thing she's ever heard. And to placate Henry, his parents let him keep the cat.
