It's morning, and Lily walks into the Finnerty kitchen. Eddie and Sean can tell in an instant that she's hung over. Claudia reminds her that she told them she'd be studying with Alison. Lily was, but Alison's sister had some friends over, and one thing let to another. Sean and Claudia are really upset. They thought they could trust Lily. She's grounded, says Sean. Henry asks why Lily's car is parked on the porch. Everyone runs to the door. Lily's car has run over the fence and is angled against the front porch. The parents demand to know how this happened. They can't conceive that Lily would drive drunk. Frankly, Lily can't remember how it happened. Sean demands Lily's car keys. He's going to sell her car. Anything less wouldn't be appropriate. Lily could have been killed or she could have killed someone else. Claudia reminds Sean that they drank as kids. Maybe they're being a little hypocritical. They also run a bar. Perhaps they're setting a bad example with alcohol. Later, Claudia finds stuff online about how to talk to your kinds about alcohol. It's important to maintain an open dialogue. Claudia shows Sean the information. It suggests making a contract with your kid. Sean's angry with Lily and he's having a hard time getting past that. Brad comes in to check on Lily. He apologizes about the car. Doesn't Lily remember that she called him to drive her home from the party, because she was too drunk to drive? Lily is elated. Brad assures Sean that he had nothing at all to drink. It's just that he and Lily were making out a little while he was driving, and the car careened through the fence. Lily assumes she'll get her keys back, but it's not happening. She fooled around with the guy who was driving, and that's just as bad, Sean tells her. The car goes! Eddie offers to help Sean sell the car and in the next few days turns the Finnerty front yard into a used car lot. He thinks he can get Sean big bucks for the Mustang. Eddie opens the fridge to get a beer and finds that there is none. Sean tells him they got rid of it, because Claudia believes having beer around sends the wrong message to the kids. Eddie asks how the contract's working out. It's not, says Sean. It seems that all they've doing is driving a drunken Lily around. It's as if by taking away her license to drive, they gave her a license to drink. Later, Claudia and Sean discover that Lily's been faking it. She hasn't had a drink since the night they took away her keys. What was she supposed to do? She needed a ride, and they took her car away for no good reason. And Eddie tells Sean he sold the Mustang for eight grand. Sean says he'll put the money in Lily's college fund. Eddie pulls Lily aside and tells her that he actually got ten thousand for the car. He's going to put the extra two thousand plus his thousand dollar "commission" into a car fund for her. Henry blurts out that Eddie really sold the car for fifteen thousand. Eddie slips him five bucks. Be a friend!
