Episode #407 "All Apologies"

Eddie’s playing Scrabble with the boys when Sean and Claudia come home from an anniversary weekend they spent in a hotel. Claudia’s furious with Eddie. She explains that back at the hotel she and Sean are having some wine and decide to watch an adult movie. Sean leaves the room for a minute and rushes back when he hears Claudia screaming. The porn movie was shot in their living room. They recognize a picture of Henry on the table. Back at home, Sean asks Eddie what he has to say for himself. They order him out of the house. Claudia says she never wants to see him again. The next day at the Pub, Sean tells Eddie that Claudia’s right to be furious. Sean can’t defend Eddie anymore. What the hell was he thinking? Eddie says they were out of town and he couldn’t let a perfectly good porn set go to waste. It’s Sean’s house, not a porn set! Henry comes in and asks why Eddie’s not allowed at the house anymore. He shot a bad movie at their house, explains Sean. Eddie wonders how long Claudia’s going to let this drag on. Possibly forever, says Sean. He thinks about what it’s like at home; all he hears is Claudia’s ranting. He’s not safe anywhere as she continues yelling about Eddie. Sean can only agree. He suggests that Eddie needs to sincerely apologize and let her know her anger is legitimate. Further, he must promise never to shoot porn in their house again. Jimmy comes in with a torn shirt. He got beaten up by a girl, Henry announces. Courtney, whose locker is next to Jimmy’s “accidentally” knocked his books out of his hands, and smilingly made fun of his hair. She then grabbed his shirt and swung him around. Later, Lily comments that clearly the girl likes Jimmy. That’s what girls that age do when they don’t want to admit they like a guy. Claudia comes in and tells Sean that she had the keys to the house changed this morning. Eddie tries to apologize and he does okay at first but messes it up when he says that Claudia must really like porn, just not at her house. Claudia tells Eddie he’s never getting a new key. Late that afternoon, Eddie shows up at the house. Sean reminds him he can’t be there; he’s banned. Claudia will kill him and then she’ll kill Sean. This isn’t one of Eddie’s standard screw-ups. Eddie reminds Sean that Claudia has class tonight. Can’t they hang out for a while? Scarface is on TV. Sean relents, but Eddie has to be gone before Claudia gets home. Eddie’s in the kitchen when Claudia comes in through the front door. She’s had a change of heart about Eddie and came home without going to class. Sean panics as Eddie walks in from the kitchen carrying some beers. He sees Claudia. Uh oh. She orders Eddie out and he can leave the beer! Claudia storms into the kitchen. She’s furious. She thought she and Sean were together on this. Eddie’s not perfect, says Sean, but Claudia has to forgive him. Claudia’s won’t budge. Eddie’s banned from the house permanently. Jimmy and Henry overhear. It’s going to be a bummer on birthdays and holidays, they chime in. Sean persists: They’re the only family Eddie has! Claudia relents. Sean says Eddie needs to hear this from Claudia. At the bar Claudia gives him the news. He demands an apology from her. Claudia agrees. She’s the world’s biggest slimeball. Eddie then gives her a half-hearted apology. But another comment about Claudia’s love of porn makes her chase him and demand the new key back.
