Sean, entering the Red Boot Pub, is amazed when he’s stopped by a tough-looking guy who demands to see some ID. Sean tries to barrel past him but gets pressed against the bar wall until Eddie says he’s okay. That’s Raul, the new bouncer, Eddie tells Sean. Eddie can’t just hire people without consulting him, Sean says. Claudia calls and asks Sean if he can watch the boys while she’s at study group tonight. No way, says Sean. The Sex Pistols are playing at Roseland. Why can’t she study at home? Impossible. There are too many distractions. She’s really worried about her big test. What about Lily, asks Sean. Can she watch the boys? No, she has a science project due tomorrow. Later, Sean’s home watching TV and Claudia’s trying to study when Raul and Eddie come in the back door. Why’s the bouncer here, Sean wants to know. Actually, he’s a bodyguard, says Eddie. Someone Eddie owes money to chased him down the street with a hatchet. He’s working to resolve the problem. Great, because Sean’s not crazy about having the bodyguard around his house. Lily and Brad come in, and Brad’s visibly upset. Sean is too when he learns that while he was babysitting so Lily could go to the library, she actually went off to a party. She’s grounded, Sean tells her. She should follow Claudia’s example. Claudia was up studying until 2:00 last night. Claudia was at the same party Lily was at, Lily tells him, but he didn’t hear this from her. Sean confronts Claudia, and she’s knows she’s been ratted out. Now Lily really is grounded. They’re both grounded, says Sean. The next day Sean’s watching a very loud basketball game as Claudia’s trying to study. Eddie comes in and informs Sean his security difficulties are over, but it soon becomes clear to Sean that Eddie’s scared to fire Raul. Eddie wants Sean to do it, admitting that he himself is a complete coward. Sean’s a little intimidated by Raul but tells him that his services are no longer needed. Raul says nothing. Sean empties his wallet to give Raul a “severance package” and offers to give references. Raul takes the money and asks for Thursday off. Defeated, Sean says that’s no problem. Claudia hesitantly asks Sean if he can baby sit while she goes to econ class. They don’t need a babysitter, fumes Jimmy. He couldn’t possibly do worse than the one they had the other night. It’s revealed that Eddie and Raul babysat while Sean went to the Sex Pistols’ concert as originally planned. After all the grief he gave Claudia, she can’t believe it! Claudia admits she missed more than a college education. She realizes now that she missed the fun stuff too. And Sean gets serious and tells her that he’s very proud of her for going back to school.
