Episode #206 "Spoils of War"

  Brenda prepares dinner for Jamie, Steve and Katie and makes an elaborate dessert; she’s irritated when Katie shows up very late with barely an apology and brings cookies for dessert without having consulted her. Brenda confronts Katie in the hall the next day, and tempers flare. An elated Jamie tells Steve he’s determined to become Brenda’s new best friend, but Steve has a problem because Katie wants to go with him to visit his Uncle George, when in fact Steve only uses Uncle George as an excuse to get out of things he doesn’t want to do. Steve is temporarily saved when he finds an old man who agrees to be Uncle George for a bribe of alcohol. Jamie’s getting ready to consummate his friendship with Brenda when he learns from Steve that Katie is getting Brenda flowers and wants to make up; Jamie snags Katie’s gift card for Brenda and attaches it to a garbage bag containing an ugly frozen fish and gives it to Brenda who thinks it’s disgusting. Steve actually want the women to get back together or he’ll have to spend another afternoon with "Uncle George." When it dawns on Jamie that now Brenda sees him as a "girlfriend" and confidant, he starts to see Steve’s point. Jamie uses a lame ploy to trick Katie into speaking into a tape recorder and then splices her words into an apology to put on Brenda’s answering machine; the women see through the trick but make up anyway.
