Steve
hires an actor to help him weasel out of going to Katie’s
for Christmas; she catches on immediately and tells him that now
she doesn’t want him to come. Steve didn’t’ want
to hurt her feelings, but he’s relieved he doesn’t have
to go. Jamie wants to but a great present for Brenda, but as usual
he’s penniless. Potter Stevens, the vintage clothing tycoon
of Indianapolis, has offered Jamie $350 for his 1967 Pucci shirt
but Jamie can’t bear to part with it; he’ll find another
way to raise some money. Confident that he’ll win, he decides
to enter a karaoke contest with a prize of 4500; he’ll use
the money to buy Brenda a new TV, since hers is broken. He convinces
Steve to also enter the contest but to dress as Saddam Hussein so
that everyone will hate him and Jamie will be sure to win. Jamie
overhears Katie talking with Brenda and reports to Steve that Katie
will be cheating on him in Buffalo with a guy named Brian; Steve
takes off for the airport still dressed as the dictator. Jamie loses
the contest to Aaron Neville who’s a surprise contestant.
Steve, still in his Saddam Hussein costume, bursts in on Katie’s
Christmas festivities and encounters her cousin Brian who spent
five years in therapy after being traumatized while fighting in
the Desert Storm conflict. And Jamie sells his pants to Potter to
buy Brenda’s TV but doesn’t give it to her until he
installs a spy camera.
