Episode #106 "Eric’s Burger Job"

SYNOPSIS:

Eric tells his friends he needs to get a job to help cover his expenses. Donna makes a point of letting everyone, especially Eric, know that she'll be home alone over the weekend babysitting her younger sister while her parents are out of town; Kelso, clueless, suggests a toga party, and Eric doesn't get her point either. Later, Hyde tells Eric he dropped the ball; clearly, Donna wants him. Eric tells Red and Kitty he's thinking of taking a job at the new Fatso Burger that Jackie's dad owns. Red says it'll be interesting to see if Eric will be able to take crap from the boss or be a quitter. Hyde tells an embarrassed Donna that it's too bad Eric missed all her signals. Eric and Kelso both interview with Ricky, the manager of Fatso Burger who's filled with company spirit and extremely pleased with himself; to Jackie's great dismay, only Eric gets hired (Jackie's dad tells her it's because Kelso's a doofus). Eric tells Donna he'll be very late for her party, because he has to work that night. Eric immediately finds himself in Fatso Burger Hell; his friends come in and give him a hard time, his boss drives him nuts and his polyester uniform is giving him a rash, but he doesn't want Red to think he's a quitter. Kitty assures him she'll deal with his father. At Donna's party, Jackie tries to tell Kelso that he needs to be more ambitious, but he doesn't get it, and she realizes that he really is a doofus. Donna leaves her party and goes to Fatso Burger to see Eric. Eric's on cleaning detail and will be there until midnight but offers to come by the next night; too late, says Donna, her parents will be back. Frustrated, Eric tells Ricky he's quitting. He arrives at Donna's and finds her parents have come home early. His only consolation is Red's reaction to his news; quitting your first job is no big deal, his father says.
