Relations are getting a bit strained between Hyde and Eric, and Hyde announces
he's sick of sharing Eric's room. He'll find his own place to sleep. Relations
are also strained between Midge and Bob, and they're pulling Donna both ways.
Midge takes her shopping, which is fine with Donna, but she has to insist that
Midge stop saying insulting things about her dad. Laurie's psychology teacher,
Professor Stark, shows up unexpectedly claiming he wants to help Laurie get
back in school. Red, and especially Kitty, whose patience with Laurie is
wearing thin, are overjoyed. But when Eric discovers Laurie and Stark kissing
in the garage, he's the one who's overjoyed; he finally has something huge on
Laurie. When Kelso finds out about Laurie and the professor, he goes
ballistic; Jackie finds this mystifying, and none of Kelso's explanations make
any sense to her. When Bob finds out that Midge bought clogs for Donna on their
shopping trip, he insists on taking Donna out and buying something too; Midge
points out that Donna is going shopping with an ass. Hyde, who has taken over
the Forman basement storage room, tells Eric that now's his chance to burst
Red's bubble about his slutty daughter, but Eric doesn't have the nerve. He
does torture Laurie at dinner by saying that he saw something interesting in the
garage; Laurie screams "Burst into flames!" But the professor drops the bomb
when he tells the Formans that he's in love with their daughter. Red throws
Stark out of the house, but Kitty wishes he wouldn't react so violently.
After all, there might still be a remote chance of getting Laurie back into college.
She tells Laurie that it's pathetic that she couldn't even pass when the
professor was in love with her. Laurie claims that none of it was her fault;
her professor took advantage of her. She complains to Red that Eric saw
Stark kissing her and did nothing to defend her honor. Red's furious, but
Eric thinks it's the lamest thing he's ever heard. And Donna's frustrated
because her parents are fighting but don't even remember what they're fighting
about.
