Donna's venting to Eric about her parents' non-stop fighting when he starts
clowning around instantly making her feel better. She kisses him and says,
"I love you Eric." Eric, flummoxed, replies, "I love cake" and instantly
feels like a jerk. Red finds Bob sleeping in his car, and Bob confides that
he and Midge had a fight and he walked out to teach her a lesson. Red
observes that Bob's the one sleeping in the car. Bob acts pathetic enough to
make Red grudgingly agree to let him stay temporarily with the Formans.
Jackie dresses Kelso in a black leather jacket and tells him he looks like Brando;
the other kids have a great time teasing him about looking like the Fonz.
Bob's very presence in their house instantly begins to drive Red and Kitty crazy.
Red suggests that Bob needs to reclaim his "castle." Eric tells Fez, Hyde and
Kelso that he panicked when Donna said she loved him. Kelso says he should
of lied and said he loved her too; Hyde points out that it wouldn't have been a
lie, and Eric admits that Hyde's right. Hyde says that Eric has to say it to Donna
right away, so she'll say it back and everything will be fine. Kitty freaks out
that Bob's using her bathtub; she makes Red promise to talk to Midge and make
her take Bob back. Eric tries to tell Donna he loves her but wimps out and
punches her in the arm and calls her "man," and he's back at square one.
Donna confides in Jackie, and Jackie's astonished that Donna used the word "love"
with Eric; Donna's only hope now, says Jackie, is to play it very cool and maybe
Eric will forget about it. Midge tells Red there's no way that she'll let Bob come
back; Red, frustrated, says he's not giving up. When Eric updates his friends
on the situation with Donna, they call him an idiot. Kelso tells him he has to learn
to handle a little woman trouble without falling apart, but when Laurie makes
fun of his leather jacket, Kelso goes crazy. Red tricks Midge into going into the
back yard, while Bob dashes past them into the house. Eric tells Donna he loves
her while they're playing basketball, and she calls him a dork. Kelso really loses
it when Hyde puts on his leather jacket and everyone, including Laurie, tells him
how cool he looks. Donna tells Eric that her parents are going to separate but
still live in the same house, and, once again, Eric manages to make her laugh.
They both say "I love you," and this time it's clear that they both mean it.
