It's Red's birthday, and just as Kitty is about to give him a very special present,
the roof in their bedroom collapses. Donna gives Hyde some peach schnapps
from the Pinciotti's liquor cupboard to give Red as a gift. She tells him that her
parents are freaks; they communicate only through notes, and they both want to
date other people. Hyde says the worst part is watching your parents split up and
not being able to do anything about it. At breakfast, Eric gives Red some two by
fours for the roof and Laurie gives him seven dollars (Kitty had given her twenty
for a present). Kitty tells Red that Midge and Bob want to take them to dinner
that night; Red grudgingly agrees to go. The guys and Jackie are talking about the strange things going on with Bob and Midge, and clearly Hyde knows a lot more than
Eric. Eric wants to know why Donna is talking to Hyde about these things and not
to him. Jackie says communication is so important; that's why Kelso never keeps
secrets from her. She looks to Kelso for agreement, and when he hesitates, she
goes crazy. Red and Kitty get to the restaurant, and Midge and Bob both arrive
with their dates; things couldn't be more awkward, but when he sees the T-bone
steak, Red decides he can tough it out. Eric and Donna are making out, and Eric
keeps asking if she wants to tell him anything; she only wants to say that she loves
making out with him. At dinner, Midge's date insults her, and Bob jumps to her
defense; Midge gets turned on by this, and she and a very happy Bob leave together.
Eric complains to the guys that Donna won't talk to him; Hyde says Eric really
has it tough-he gets to make out with a gorgeous chick and doesn't have to talk
about her feelings. Fez tells Kelso that if he doesn't start taking care of Jackie,
he's going to lose her. Things get tense between Hyde and Eric when Eric tells
him that he really doesn't want Hyde talking to his girlfriend. After dinner, Kitty
tells Red that she doesn't care if their bedroom has no roof, she wants to give him
his present; they walk into the living room and finds it littered with kids. At this
point, Red just wants the day to be over. Donna's not happy when she finds out that
Eric and the other kids have been discussing her personal life. Eric says he forgives
her for telling her problems to Hyde instead of him; Donna is quick to point out that
there's no way he can help her with her problems because his family is normal.
They're a family. As they continue to talk, Bob and Midge come in and announce
that they just had sex in the car, but that doesn't mean that they're getting back
together. Eric admits to Donna that he hasn't a clue how to handle a situation like
this, but he'll try to get smarter. Jackie makes Kelso keep repeating that he doesn't
keep secrets from her; Fez takes Jackie's hand and says she's a goddess and he
worships her. That, Fez tells Kelso, is how to treat a woman like Jackie.
