It's the first day of deer season, and Kitty convinces Red to go hunting and use
the Pinciottis' cabin. Red says he hasn't been hunting since the "accident" but
refuses to give any details about what happened. After the guys leave, Kitty suggests that she, Kitty, Donna and Laura should have some "girl fun" while the guys are away. Red, Bob, Eric, Hyde, Kelso and Fez are in the Vista Cruiser, and Kelso has his gun hanging out the window, since he plans to shoot the first deer he sees. They take the gun away
from Kelso, and Hyde asks Red about the hunting accident, but Red isn't talking.
Back in the Forman kitchen, Jackie has joined the group, but Donna finds the "girl
talk" disgusting and is ready to go home until Jackie suggests that they play poker.
As the guys are unloading the Vista Cruiser, a deer walks right into camp. Kelso yanks
the gun out of the car, and it goes off causing the deer to bolt. Kelso's upset, because
he thinks he should have had the deer. Eric goes with Red to check out a deer blind.
He asks Red where Fez is, and Red says that Fez went off to go hunting with a
whistle and a stick. Fez suddenly appears from the woods holding two cleaned birds.
Back home the poker game continues with Midge the big winner and an unhappy
Kitty losing badly. At the deer blind, Eric is cold and wants to go back to camp.
Red spots a huge deer and insists that Eric take a shot at it. Eric, who clearly wishes
he could be anywhere else, misses. Red can't believe his eyes; the deer was so close
that he could have hit him with a rock. Red asks Eric why he's so nervous, and
Eric suggests that maybe it's because Red's been yelling at him for seventeen years.
At camp the other guys have just finished eating the birds Fez killed which he
identified as pheasants. Everyone pronounces them delicious, and all's well
until Fez tells them his "pheasants" were black and went "caw-caw." At the deer
blind Eric wants Red to get off his case, so he shoots a can from a great distance to
show Red that he's a good shot but deliberately missed the deer. The deer comes
back, and Eric tries to convince his dad that it's too magnificent and beautiful to
kill. Red shoots the deer and tells Eric that, for the record, he's king of the forest.
The poker game is still going on, but Laurie's dealing and suddenly Kitty's winning.
Midge accuses Laurie of cheating, and Kitty informs her that her daughter doesn't
cheat. Midge leaves in a huff, and Laurie admits to Kitty that she cheated so Kitty
could win. That night at camp Red finally tells the story of the hunting accident;
his friend shot a deer, but the deer kicked him in the neck and his friend died.
Eric hopes that since Red got his deer they'll never have to go hunting again, but
Red says that when they stop hunting they might as well put on a dress.
