Hyde shows up, and the kids are relieved that he's out of jail. Red's really angry,
and nothing Kitty says can stop him from wanting to kick Hyde out of the house.
A fantasy sequence follows in which Red imagines that all the kids become dope
fiends. Red asks Eric if Hyde has ever pressured him to use marijuana, but Eric
denies it. At the Hub, Jackie thanks Hyde for taking the rap for her; Hyde's her
hero. Leo forgives Hyde for missing his shift at Fotohut when he learns that Hyde
was busted. Hyde tells Jackie he wants to put the whole stupid thing behind him.
Laurie, totally supporting her dad, thinks kicking Hyde out is a great idea. Maybe
they should kick Eric out too. Hyde doesn't seem too upset that he's leaving the
Formans; he'll sleep on the floor at the Fotohut. But Eric's determined to save
him. He'll tell Red that he does pot too. Donna says that would be the stupidest
thing ever, and the guys agree that it would be pretty crazy. Leo tries to plead Hyde's
case with Red, but Red would never dream of listening to a hippie. Jackie, clearly
obsessed with Hyde, tells Donna that she and Hyde are in love and reveals that
Hyde got busted when the bag of pot was actually hers. Donna says if Jackie won't
tell the Formans, she will. When Red and Kitty find out, Kitty thinks that maybe
Red will apologize, but instead he tells Hyde he was a dumbass to put his entire
future at risk. Eric, unaware that all is forgiven, bursts into the room. Donna tries
to stop him, but Eric confesses that he uses marijuana too. A flashback follows
in which Eric, Kelso and Hyde are young boys. Even back then they're terrified of
Red. Eric tries to cover by saying that they've only been smoking for about a week;
Hyde chimes in that they weren't thinking. Red decides that all of this is his fault;
he's been too lenient. The fun times are over. Donna tells Eric to listen to her the
next time she tells him to shut up, while Hyde tells Jackie that he's had it with her
girly fantasy crap. He's not in love with her! Jackie's convinced he's lying.
And the kids know they're really in trouble when Red installs a smoke detector.
