Episode #311 "Hyde's Christmas Rager"

SYNOPSIS:

The gang is throwing a party at Hyde's dad's apartment, complete with keg. When Kelso brings out the plastic tube and funnel, Donna and Jackie decide it's time for them to leave. Bud Hyde seems a little concerned when he sees the keg, but he doesn't hassle the kids. Eric asks if maybe Bud could be his dad. Kitty arrives to do a little checking up on Hyde's situation, and the kids do their best to conceal the party in the works, but Kitty's not falling for it; she knows that something's up. Jackie suggests a girls' night out, and Donna goes reluctantly. They arrive at a bar and meet a couple of older guys who, they learn, are firemen. At the party, the four guys are playing "Quarters," and Eric's losing. As a result, he has to drink lots of shots and is feeling a little woozy. At the bar, Donna is anxious to leave; among other things, these guys are too old, but Jackie wants to stay. Eric's really drunk by the time he gets home, and Kelso's holding him up. They make it through the kitchen door just in time for Eric to throw up on Red's shoes. Kitty's furious with Bud Hyde; what kind of parent leaves a bunch of teenagers alone with a keg? Kitty wants Red to have a talk with Bud, and when he wants to stay out of it, Kitty says the only alternative is to pick up Steven and move him back in with the Formans. Red quickly agrees to give Bud a call. At last, Jackie's ready to leave the bar, much to Donna's relief, but it only happens when she finds out that one of the guys dated her mother before she was married. Bud shows up at the Formans' house. He explains that since he's never been a dad before, he's been trying to be Steven's friend. Red tells him that Steven doesn't need another friend; he needs someone to ride his ass. Bud gets the message. And Bud goes home and throws everyone out. The party's over. He tells Steven he's not playing father now. He is Steven's father, and he will be making the rules.
