Episode #323 "Backstage Pass"

SYNOPSIS:

Eric's upset when Donna, who's now doing the farm report at the radio station, once again has to cancel a date because of work. He protests that her job is starting to cut into her "Eric time," but he feels better when she announces that she's set everyone up with tickets to a Ted Nugent concert. Jackie tells Kelso that now that they're back together she wants their second first time to be magical. A wonderful prelude to having sex, says Jackie, would be an entire week of romantic magic. When Kitty asks Red if he remembers how they first met and he describes something that happened with another girl, he's in big trouble. Fez has some T-shirts printed that he and Hyde plan to sell at the concert. Unfortunately, they say "Tad" Nugent, but Hyde decides to try to sell them anyway. After the concert, Eric and Donna are leaving when they encounter Max, Donna's boss, who offers her a backstage pass. Eric isn't happy, but she swears she'll be back in ten minutes. Max observes that he lost his first wife that way. Donna meets Ted Nugent who automatically assumes she's a groupie. Donna assures him she's not, so he assumes she must be there to interview him. Donna's ecstatic, and she forgets all about her promise to Eric. Eric sees that Hyde and Fez have been busted for selling the counterfeit shirts; they're handcuffed to a security fence. Eric's furious about being deserted by Donna; he's muttering that he's not going to take it, but the only person around to hear him is the janitor. After the interview, Ted offers to let Donna touch his guitar. When she establishes that he's really talking about a guitar, she happily accepts and stays even longer. After day one of their magical romantic week, Jackie tells Michael that he's so irresistible that she can't wait any longer. When challenged by Red, Kitty has to confess that she can't remember how they met either. After she drinks a Manhattan, her memory comes back, and she realizes that their first meeting was humiliating for her. When she confesses this to Red he reassures her that if Eric ever asks, he'll stick to his first story. When an excited Donna returns to tell Eric about her adventure, he's furious because she ditched him. She can't believe his reaction. His mom would never do this to his dad, Eric fumes. Right, says Donna, but they're married, and that's very different. When Eric asks her if she's sorry, she says she shouldn't have to be. And Hyde and Fez are freed when the cops learn that they were trying to sell "Tad" shirts instead of "Ted." It turns out, says Hyde, that stupidity is legal.
