Episode #401 "It's A Wonderful Life"

SYNOPSIS:

Eric's lying in bed thinking about the first time he and Donna kissed. He wishes he'd never kissed her. An angel appears and says he's going to show Eric what would have happened if Eric never had. First they go back to the scene of the kiss, but instead Donna thanks Eric for a nice night and goes home. They flash forward that night, and Hyde's waiting for Donna. When she tells him nothing happened with Eric, Hyde kisses her. Three months later we see Eric sitting by himself in the basement looking pathetic as Jackie and Kelso along with Donna and Hyde are making out. Red comes in and demands that Eric tar the driveway. The angel reminds Eric that Donna gave him confidence to stand up to Red instead of being such a wuss. We next see Eric at the Hub with a bunch of nerds from the chess club. Fez announces that he's made marching band. Next comes prom night, and Eric learns that he went to the prom with Big Rhonda. Red needles Eric as Kitty snaps pictures. Donna is Hyde's prom date, and the angel shows Eric a biker party at Hyde's where Donna reveals a new tattoo. Fez is there too being amazingly nerdy. Without Hyde as his mentor, Fez gets beaten up constantly. Eric sees that Kelso is with Pam Macy. Eric says that Kelso and Jackie made up at the prom, but the angel says it didn't happen. It was the domino effect; Hyde wasn't there to take Jackie to the prom, so she and Kelso couldn't make up. Moving on, the angel shows Hyde being arrested for theft and possession. He never moved in with the Formans, so Red couldn't kick his ass and straighten him out. Eric protests that nothing he's seen is that bad, but the angel says it's going to get a lot worse. The angel shows Eric Donna and Hyde's wedding with Donna already pregnant. By now Kelso is a TV anchorman in Cedar Rapids. Jackie's there, and she's a globe-trotting stewardess. It's now 1983, Eric's standing alone when a six-year-old boy comes up and kicks him in the shin. Kitty tells the boy to be nice to his big brother, because Eric isn't as strong as he is. The angel observes that Red and Kitty finally have the son they always wanted. They move ahead to 1989, and it's Eric's ten year reunion. Kelso got fired from his broadcasting job and now works for Eric selling waterbeds. He's now married to Pam Macy. Big Rhonda's there, and now she looks fabulous and has a successful aerobics studio. She asks Eric not to tell anyone that they used to go out. Eric sees Donna who tells him that Hyde's in prison. Donna looks great, and she and Eric confess that they used to have a crush on each other back in high school. Donna now has three kids. Eric tells the angel that he's envious of the 1989 Eric, because he never felt the pain of losing Donna. 1989 Eric hears this and confronts Eric. He can't believe that Eric and Donna actually had a relationship. Now it's 1989 and he's 28 and a nobody. Eric tells 1989 Eric that he's much better off. The angel offers to take away the whole experience with Donna so that Eric won't feel any more pain, but Eric will also lose all the good memories of the relationship as well. At the last second, Eric says he wants things to stay as they are.
