Donna tells Eric that she hasn’t forgotten that before their break-up she’d promised to be his date to the Pricemart Ball that is taking place the following night. Eric, afraid that it will be too awkward, says he isn’t going, but Red won’t hear of it. Eric tells Donna that it will be weird going on a date with her, but Donna assures him it won’t be a date. Later, Eric confides to the gang that if Donna is over their break-up, so is he and if she doesn’t want it to be a date, it won’t be. Leo’s looking for help at the Fotohut, and Hyde convinces Fez to apply; Leo hires him on the spot, but Fez isn’t sure what to make of his new boss. At the Ball, things are instantly awkward for Eric and Donna with both of them determined not to act as if they’re on a date. At Fotohut, Fez is committed to working hard even if his boss is a flake. He’s annoyed when Kelso and Jackie drop in just to hang out. When a pretty girl flirts with Eric at the Ball while Donna’s in the restroom, Red tells him to forget about Donna and grab this girl, because he may not get another chance. Bob, who in Midge’s absence has been starving rather than go grocery shopping, gives up and goes to the supermarket. Bob couldn’t be more befuddled, but he meets a charming lady, Joanne, who volunteers to show him how to make meatloaf.
Donna tells Kitty that she wishes Eric would relax and have fun at the party, but then she sees Eric dancing with his new friend Connie and pronounces her a “skank.” When she sees Eric kiss Connie goodbye, she’s stunned and confronts him. After all, he’s on a date with her. When Eric protests that it isn’t a date, Donna assures him that it is now as she threatens to kick his ass. And Fez, who has whipped the Fotohut into shape, is frustrated that no one appreciates his work ethic. Leo and Hyde really freak out when Fez wants them to wear Fotohut sweatshirts. Hyde explains that his work is to create a model of inefficiency, and Fez is ruining it. Leo decides that firing Fez is the only way to get things at Fotohut back to normal.
