Episode #409 "Donna’s Story"

SYNOPSIS:

Donna publishes a story in the school paper which is a thinly disguised account of her relationship with Eric in which he’s characterized as a domineering cat killer. Eric’s extremely upset; he tells the guys that he can’t believe that Donna would do this. The guys can’t understand why it’s such a big deal. Kelso borrows fifty dollars from Jackie to buy a stake in a pinball machine, but he pretends that he needs the money to buy Jackie a dress. Bob invites Red and Kitty over to meet Joanne, his new lady friend. There’s an awkward moment when Red insists that he and Bob should handle the grilling; Bob tells Red to watch it, because he really likes this woman. Eric confronts Donna about the story, but at first she denies that it’s about them. Eric won’t buy it, and she admits that maybe there are some similarities, but it’s meant to be satire. Kelso’s busted when Hyde tells Jackie that she’s not getting a dress. Eric’s still mad at Donna, but she assures him that it’s just a harmless story. It doesn’t help her case when a girl walks by and calls Eric a cat killer. Eric decides it’s time to write his own story. Red tells Kitty that he doesn’t like Joanne; she’s making changes and ruining their nice quiet lives. Eric writes a sequel to Donna’s story in which Donna’s portrayed as an evil witch bent on revenge who transforms into a sexy siren. When Donna reads it, she’s really pissed. She especially hates the references to her huge feet. She accuses Eric of writing story with the sole intention of hurting her. Hyde’s tells Fez that Donna’s an artist; she wrote her story to get perspective on her life. Eric, on the other hand, is a vindictive ass. Red and Joanne have a run-in, and Joanne accuses Red of trying to put her in her place. She can’t believe he could be threatened by something as trivial as who grills the chicken. The second part of Donna’s story is published in which the heroine ends by saying that “Wanda” will never stop loving “Derek.” Eric and Donna manage to have a civil discussion, and Eric asks what will happen to Wanda and Derek. Donna thinks they’ll go off to have their own adventures; it’s probably time they moved on. Derek and Wanda, they decide, will both do fine.
